Danny Armstrong

Nickname: Army, J.D. or Little Eric
Born: May 13, 1957
Instrument: Bass guitar

Nickname: Army, J.D. and Little Eric. Some band members simply called him J.D.  Marion called Danny "Army", short for Armstrong, and also called him "Little Eric" because Marion thought Danny could play like Eric Clapton.

Then: Danny joined Midnight Sun in 1972. He was 15 years old and the "Baby" of the group. He replaced Robbie Davis as bass player. The boys say Danny was a gifted musician and though he played bass guitar for the band, he could also play lead and rhythm when needed. Danny also sang backup. After Midnight Sun, Danny played in the Legend Band with Chip, Marion, Bill Copeland and Joe Seay. In the Legend Band he played rhythm guitar.

Now: Danny and his wife Betty live in Powhatan and have been married 28 years. They have two sons, Eric (16) and Scott (12). Danny is a commercial building Operations Manager. He still plays music, but mostly at home. Betty is a teacher's assistant for autistic children at Evergreen Elementary School. Danny and Betty's sons play soccer so Danny and Betty are on the road most weekends for soccer matches.

Fond Memories of Midnight Sun: "Most of these can probably not be written due to legal considerations! Let's see, Coles Point Tavern - Nuff said! Battle of the Bands, state fairgrounds" says Danny.

Favorite Song that Midnight Sun performed: "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles
